Palmer’s Lip Balm Sunscreen Stick

Do you know Palmers? I just found it last week during my visit in a shopping center. It is a treatment lip care with vitamin E and cocoa butter as its active ingredients. Staying long hours in centrally air-conditioned room is absolutely bad for my lip. It makes my lip tends to dry and chapped. Hence I need a right remedy to fix it. And now I give a trial run on Palmer’s Lip Balm Sunscreen Stick.

The lip balm formed in yellow semi-transparent solid block and stored in cylindrical tube (usually we call it stick). I prefer tube to jar as I don’t need to dig in with my fingers just to take out the balm. Besides, tubes allow me to wear the lip balm whenever I need it without worrying to firstly clean my fingers to ensure the sanitary.

Once being applied, this balm doesn’t leave a thick greasy film like some lip balms do. It feels like applying Sebamed lip Defense – no sticky or shiny film but instantly set deep moisture to the lip. There is a light sweet scent, just like the smell of cocoa which coming through the natural cocoa butter.
This product is claimed to be fragrance free to keep its best benefits. Only the Palmer added a natural maskant to neutralize the natural cocoa butter scent. Cocoa butter is a natural moisturizer derived from the cocoa bean which is very effective and nourishing. The best thing is that this balm is enriched with SPF15 and against animal testing. The SPF gives sun protection and hence we don’t need to consider a separate lip sun protection.

Cons
  • I get a bit itchy on my lip after the application. I don’t know if it is an allergic sign or what. But there is no continuation negative effect. My lip keeps its moisture and work so well. Just a bit tingle is uncomfortable. I find some users also report the same complaint as me.
  • Since it is a treatment balm, it has no color. I always wish to have a little of pinkish on my lip balms. But of course I know adding color may reduce the benefits of itself.
Active Ingredients
Dimethicone 1.5%; Octinoxate 7.5%; and Oxybenzone 4.5%.

Other ingredients
Mineral oil (parraffinum liquidum), microcrystalline wax (cera microcristallina), coppermicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, fragrance (parfum), tocopheryl acetate, benzyl alcohol, beta carotene (CI 40800), isopropyl myristate.

Hey Mapple, good review.. it sounds like a protective & moisturizing lip balm. I'm not sure about the itchy and tingly feeling though.. it sounds like the feeling that lip plumpers give. Maybe it plumps your lips secretly? :p

Visibly I don't see any plumping effect.. Don't know exactly what it is
